Work History:
I built this one as an exercise in 'don't worry about the expensive materials, pay attention to the joinery'. I intended to give it to my son Liam as a box for him to store his treasures in. He now keeps all of his matchbox cars in it. It's built of Ponderosa pine with a cherry handle top (a piece of cherry left over from the hall table project.)
Afterthoughts:
This thing probably has the tightest joints of any project I've finished so far. And I was surprised how beautiful this thing turned out. The grain pattern wraps around, and the filled knot on the front ends up looking like a sunset. (Liam said it looks like an alligator swimming by in front of the sun.)
